The Cats looked completely frustrated in two games against Cal and Stanford. A situation made tangible by their abysmal shooting performance at Maples Pavillion (0 3pointers). There were times when the camera would cut to a Wildcat player after a turnover, charging call or missed lay-up and each player had the same expression, "What do we have to do to get a break?" Part of the bad luck may have to do with the way that teams are learning to beat the Arizona Zone. Cal torched it from the outside and Stanford repeatedly scored dunks and lay-ups from the weak side.
Is it time to retire the zone or was this just one lost weekend?
Time to retire road games.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Chase is doing exactly what he did last season, now we are down to the big two Jordan and Nic.
ReplyDeleteRetire the zone and diversify the offense. We run the same set all the time and it makes it easy to defend. Bring J Hill up to the high post and run some backdoor if it is not there then kick it out and then go to the low post. Also run some plays for three pointers. Stanford won by sixteen but outscored us by 24 from the 3-point line. You have to make 3's to win in this age of College Hoops.
