Well the Cats were pretty well beaten by a team led by a guy named Wink. Our zone defense which was so effective against the Zaga Bulldogs left us exposed on the three point line all game long. Wink took advantage of the situation and hit 7 three pointers. UNLV added aggressive defense to their opportunistic shooting. Their extremely physical style reminded me of the way that ASU and UCLA play defense. I think we need to be concerned about the UofA reaction to this type of play given the stature of our point guard. Wise seemed to be man handled and it influenced his ball control. He had 6 of the Cats 19 turnovers. This is a big problem.
As I anxiously anticipate the football game in three hours, I sincerely hope this is not a precursor to the continued dominance of the Pac-10 by the Mountain West. ASU is also playing a Mountain West school at the moment...on a neutral site of course.
What do we think? Was this a hangover loss related to the Gonzaga win?
I don't think so. I feel like we were just exposed for our lack of toughness in a hostile situation.
