Foggy Style

Last night Becky and I were catching up on television shows on the DVR. We started watching The Office "baby" episode and the above scene began to play out. The tension in the episode is related to Pam's concern that her baby isn't taking to nursing from her. After some initially disappointment, Pam finds that the baby takes to her in the evening. In the clip above you see that it turns out that it wasn't her kid that actually took to her but her roommates kid.

Much of the humor in the Office is based on embarrassing and cringe inducing situations like this. Becky does not handle these scenes well. While watching this scene, she got up and ran into the other room screaming "I can't watch this." You would have thought she was watching a scene from "faces of death" or those videos about the meat packing industry.

I found myself concerned that I was getting married to a woman that couldn't handle a little tension and anxiety. After all it is just a TV show...

Fast forward to Saturday morning, the Cats are trying desperately to ruin Nic Wise's senior day when Kyle Fogg pulls up for a game tying buzzer beating 3. He misses. A foul is called. Fogg goes to the line for 3 free throws to tie the game.

I begin to go into convulsions. I can't sit still. My hands are sweating. I am covering my eyes. When Fogg's first free throw hits the rim and goes in I scream. I feel like I am going to throw up. He makes all three and we head to overtime.

This was the final basketball game of the regular season. A pac-10 season where the best the Cats can finish is 3rd or 4th. Where their chances of making the big dance are dependent on their ability to run the Pac-10 tourney. And here I am soiling my pants over free throws.

The moral of the story, we shouldn't judge others for their neurosis because ours may be on display mere hours later.
