Still No QB

I am beginning to get very worried about the UofA opening game against Central Michigan. The latest news out of the scrimmage from Saturday night was that there is still no starting QB. Apparently Foles had a better night and Scott was criticized for losing his composure in the huddle. According to some reporting on the Arizona Desert Swarm blog, Stoops will be playing both QB's in the first game. The Cats employed this style successfully with Keith Smith and Ortege Jenkins back in 1998 (12-1). As I understand them, Scott is supposed to be more athletic (like Jenkins) and Foles is more of a pocket passer (like Smith). Certainly these two qbs are not as experienced as their predecessors but could a dual qb situation work again in Tucson?

  1. From what I've seen of the scrimmages, Foles appeared much more composed and made better decisions. Whereas Scott held onto the ball for ages and threw some bad passes.

Scott brings a different dimension to the offense than we have seen in the past, but make no mistake that Foles is any such slouch. He's still more agile than Tuitama and still is capable of tucking and running if needed (something Tuitama lost after the concussions).
