Miller Adds One for 2011

Sidiki Johnson, a 6'8" 200 lb PF (2011) of the Bronx committed to Sean Miller's Wildcats today.

Johnson is a "4 star" recruit per Rivals, leaving Sean Miller still without his first "5 star" signing. Johnson fits the mold Miller generally recruits in the frontcourt, a scrappy and tough defender who loves to rebound. Some of his weaknesses have been noted as face up game and thin body, but both can be improved with strength and conditioning and the Miller Hoops Academy newly founded in Tucson.

Coincidentally, Johnson hails from St. Raymonds High School in Bronx, NY. The same school Kevin Parrom attended before transferring to South Kent Prep in Connecticut. Miller addressed one of his goals as focusing in on the Arizona brand, that Arizona has the brand power to recruit nationally, evidenced by the success of lead recruiters Book Richardson and Archie Miller's efforts.

Here's some notable quotes:
"Johnson has very good length and though thin now, one look at his trunk would suggest that he has the capacity to add a significant amount of muscle and strength to his frame."
-via ESPN

"The St. Raymond’s forward is 6-foot-8 with a knack for tearing down rebounds, polishing up the glass as if he’s Mr. Clean’s understudy...Johnson is a walking double-double who will surely evolve into the face of the rich, traditional basketball breeding ground in the Bronx."
-from NBE Basketball

Of course, with what little weight a verbal commitment holds now-a-days in the circus that is collegiate basketball recruiting who knows if we'll ever see Johnson suit up in the Cardinal and Navy. One could only hope so, with 2011 being Horne's senior and Natyahzko's sophomore year, any talented frontcourt help ought to be readily accepted.
