Back Up the Middle

The Dbacks employed an unusual strategy for mounting a comeback against the Dodgers yesterday. Rusty Ryal slammed a line drive up the middle and off Hiroki Kuroda's face. It was one of the nastiest injuries I have ever witnessed in a baseball game. My question is, Is this more gruesome than Randy Johnson annihilating a dove?
