My dad sent me a great article about the Wildcats recruiting class. Check it out over at ESPN.com (andy katz is the man).

Dez Bryant lobbies to make return to NFL with Kyler Murray, Arizona
Cardinals in 2022

Former NFL wide receiver Dez Bryant wants back in the NFL. And he would
like to make his return with the Arizona Cardinals.

Solomon Hill has the best opportunity to start off the bat. He's a great passer and plays unselfishly. Has good size, finishes strong, and runs really well. From interviews I've seen he seems like a fiery competitor.
ReplyDeleteDerrick Williams - I haven't seen much on him, but from what I have seen he finishes with the dunk well (Considering, that's the only thing I've seen him do.)
Lamont Jones is another Oak Hill point guard. And much like his predecessor, Brandon Jennings, plays with lots of swagger and flair. He's a shoot first guard, with quite a few moves off the dribble. (His go to move being a huge carry with a left leg kick before crossing over to the lane with the right.) I think he'll see some good minutes as a combo guard and giving Wise some spot relief. Personally, not my style of PG because I think he's a selfish player, but I trust in Miller more than my own talent evaulations.
Kevin Parrom is much like Solomon Hill in stature and game. Looks to be a 4 year player as he's a scrappy on ball defender and can knock down the three with some consistency, he's a great fit for this class as a damn good role player.
Kyryl Natyazhko, cousin of Kyrylo Fesenko of the
Jazz is an agile big-man, who can shoot to 15 feet with ease. He's not of the bruiser mold Miller emphasized in his pressers, but given the circumstances and what was available was a huge pickup. I think the less we see of Jacobstiff the better. He'll see significant minutes as well.
I think the thing that concerns me most is something Tyler has touched base upon: Freshman mistakes. We're going to see the Fogg fouls and Horne miscues often if not every other contest with the minutes we'll be needing from underclassmen. Luckily we have the Pac-10's best floor general to lead them.
Did you see the video of Parrom? I dont know what his shooting percentage is, but he will not be a knock down 3 point shooter unless he learns to shoot, not chuck a ball from the side of his head and pray it goes in.
ReplyDeleteGuess you're right: “Parrom [can] score in the paint or hit the jumper off the dribble from 17 feet. He is a solid passer who will play solid ‘D’ and do the little things to help his club win. Some list him as a two (off guard or shooting guard), but he has never been a full-time perimeter player. But he has the tools once his three-point range improves.”

A lot of the information I get is from Wildaboutazcats it's run by two former Arizona beat writers for the Tucson Citizen and Daily Star in Javier Morales and Anthony Gimino. It's a good read and free alternative to GOAZCats for Wildcats sports news.
