Pounded in Pullman

How do you go from a potential NCAA tournament sleeper to a possible bubble busted disappointment in 24 hours? You lose to a team you have beat 44 out of 47 in the last 12 years. You completely let the officiating take you out of the game. You shoot terribly. And you once again get torched from the 3 point line. I know that this is beginning to sound repetitive but the Cats lose to good shooting teams. The only thing that makes that zone effective is energetic tenacity and pressure from the offensive end. When we force other teams to play our high scoring pace the zone seems to work but when we slow down and let them swing the ball from one end to the other they find holes and destroy us.

Now the cats have to win 2 of their next 3 and its not going to be easy. I think we should beat Stanford but I hate having to wait to the final game of the season. I don't think we can beat Cal, they shoot too well. Which means that on Saturday we have to beat the best team (according to their record) in the Pac-10.

Can we beat Washington in Seattle?

  1. Yes we can beat them if he will come out of the zone and use more bench players. Jordan needs a rest and Alex can fill in for 2 and 3 minute stretches. By the way I think we can and will beat Cal at home. I don't think they'll shoot it so well in McHale

  2. Just a quick note I heard while listening to the game on 107.5, "Brockman has zero vertical. He only has two blocked shots all year!"

I did some verification on ESPN: (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=26870) and Brockman indeed only has two blocked shots.

Really? Two. TWO. Nic Wise has more shots blocked than Brockman (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=31641) and he's a full foot shorter.

I mean I understand he's a behemoth in the lane, but so is AJac and I'm sure he could muster more than two blocks in an entire season given the burn that Brockman receives. We should've just pounded it inside all night.
