Bye Bye Haren, Hello Football Season

Dan Haren is gone which officially ends the D-backs season as far as I am concerned because he was the one player I tuned in to watch. The experts are calling it a salary dump and there doesn't seem to be much excitement the players we got back. At least I will still get to see Haren on local Angels broadcasts.

But as the D-backs season comes to a close it is time to turn our attention to football and right on queue the Pac-10 has released its new logo and its promotional video. I am not a fan of the new logo (Becky says it looks like the emblem of a Masonic lodge) and I think the video is too long but I am eager to hear what you all think. So check it out and let me know.

  1. I always forget how much of a chubby Nick Foles gives me until I see him in action.

  2. The Diamondbacks traded Haren and got back no top-50 prospects, maybe no top-100 prospects. If the goal was to save money, they failed as well; the difference between what they'll pay Saunders and what they would have paid Haren is likely to be washed away by the damage done by what has now been made clear: the Diamondbacks are focused on the long term, and unlikely to be contenders in the NL West for a few years. If there's a model for how not to handle the trade of a high-priced, high-value player, this is it.
