Lebron vs. Orlando

I was watching the Cavs/Magic game two days ago with Tyler and Jeremy via text message. As we typed back and forth I struggled with my years of basketball knowledge. I watched as time and time again Lebron would try to go 1 on 5 on the Magic defense. Now the majority of the time he got a good look and made a spectacular play. I understand how the combination of good shots and ice cold teammates can result in the Lebron-only-offense but it struck me how that stagnant style can fester into all facets of a game. I was hesitant to bring this up with Tyler and Jeremy because I was sure they would say that Lebron is all the Cavs have but Tim Legler changed my mind as I was listening to ESPN radio yesterday. He was talking about the last time the Cavs were in the finals and comparing it to the way they had played this year. The difference was ball movement. You can not win in the NBA (or in any basketball game) without moving the ball and establishing a rhythm. It is one of those magical aspects of the game that anyone who has played at the recreation center can attest.

My prediction is that the Cavs will win tonight if Lebron has less than 40 points. If they go back to moving the ball and not watching number 23 then they win.

Am I crazy?

  1. You are crazy for saying Lebron would win a championship this year. His team is good, he is good, so Im blaming the coach. Compare Jordans teams to his and I wouldnt say theyre much different in talent. The only difference is that Jordan wouldnt hold the ball every possession for 22 seconds. This is a classic case of having shooters but sucking all of the rhythm out of the game. Much like at the rec center when we hate playing with people that just dribble too much. It makes it incredibly difficult to shoot well. But you shouldnt blame him, blame the supposed coach of the year.
