Who should be the Cardinals Signal Caller?

It looks like the NFL Lockout could be ending soon which means a fast and furious free agent signing period. As we know the Cardinals will be shopping for a Quarterback and I was wondering who the ASD would take if we were in charge. Here are our options:

Kevin Kolb - For months we have been hearing that the Cardinals will take this Eagles backup. Philly was apparently never really sold on him as they felt confident he could replace Donavon McNabb but not enough to ignore Vick (his eventual replacement). Cards fans have apparently been vocal in their ambivalence with some very excited by the prospect of getting Kolb dressed in red and white and others skeptical. Add to this, the report that the Cards are willing to make a "surprise" trade to acquire Kolb and he could be as polarizing a Cardinal as Matt Leinart. Recently on the BS report, NFL analyst and former Raiders GM Mike Lombardi trashed Kolb which made me wary of him but after putting him on the Cardinals on Madden and ravaging the Rams secondary I was sold. I am in favor of Kolb as the Cardinals QB.

Donavon McNabb - I listen to Tony Kornheiser's radio show everyday while cleaning the dishes and for the entire football season last year I listened as Mr. Tony dismantled the steaming carcass of the washed up McNabb. Kornheiser liked to point out that McNabb bounced every pass under 20 yards and that it was a terrible sign that the Eagles felt comfortable trading McNabb within the division. Number 5 has apparently been working out in the off season with Fitzgerald and he lives in Arizona, but reports suggest that these won't have any relevance to his signing. A year ago I would have been thrilled to have McNabb under center but now it looks like it isn't going to happen. I hope we don't regret letting him go elsewhere as he is promising to have a comeback year.

Kyle Orton - Apparently the beardy QB from Purdue is the Cardinals Plan B. I have always kinda like Orton but he gets replaced so much it is hard to believe he can be a franchise QB. Even still there is a lot of interest in Orton as teams need veteran QB's and he has proven to be a reliable starter in the NFL. I think you know what you are getting when you trade for Orton, something consistent and predictable and not too exciting. He think he is his generations Kerry Collins which isn't that bad considering Collins took the Giants to a superbowl.

Matt Hasselbeck - Peter King reported in June that Hasselbeck will likely be the Cardinals QB this season. The Cue Ball-headed QB of Seattle is looking for a 2-year contract with Seattle and if he doesn't get it he may be headed elsewhere. I find it hard to believe that the Seahawks would let him go to a division rival. I think he is the most talented and proven of the options but he also gets hurt a lot and is only a temporary solution.

Marc Bulger - Replaced by Sam Bradford a year ago, Bulger used to be one of the more exciting QBs in the NFL. I think getting Bulger would be like getting McNabb. You are hoping to get a guy who was once great and who could possibly rekindle his talent for a few years. It worked with Warner could it work again? They were both very successful Rams so they have that in common. I wonder if Bulger believes the Earth was actually created in 7 days...

Carson Palmer - The former Pro-Bowl QB wants out of Cincy but everyone thinks he is washed up. I don't think the Cards will go after him but if they do our Center's better step up their hygiene because Palmer showed in an episode of Hard Knocks that he doesn't appreciate a stinky Center. During the episode he made his linemen smell his hand after putting it under-center all day to receive snaps...classy.

I will put up a poll on the ASD and we will see who you all want as the Cardinals new QB.

  1. I liked Orton, but the I heard on the radio that he is a really accurate passer but he sucks when the game is on the line, which is true. Then I heard that we should get Hasselbeck and have him for 2 years and bring Jon Skelton through our system so he will be the starter in two years. It depends what we have to give up for Kobb. I think we should tank the season and get Andrew Luck. But since we could win the division I guess I would want Kolb even though he could totally suck. So Kolb, Orton, and then McNabb.
