Married and Posting

It has been a while since I have posted because of the bachelor party, wedding, dissertation, chest cold and general business but I'm back baby. And here are my thoughts on what has been going on in the world of sports.

UofA Football
Cats are 23 point favorites today at Wazzu. If Mike Riley didn't own Mike Stoops perhaps we would still be feeling like we were headed for roses. It was like every play the Beavers ran was the perfect counter to our defense. Our game plan seemed to be to stop their run and Riley countered with deep passes. When Foles throws for 440, the offense goes for over 500 yards and we injure their top offensive player we should win. The kicking game and defense really hurt us, especially the kicking game which hurt my eyes. How do you chili dip an extra point? Zendejas kicked the ground behind the ball on the missed extra point.

Now we need to be rooting against the Oregon schools if we want any chance of heading to Pasadena. Either that or we need Oregon to win out and play in the national championship.

"We must break you"

The cats history of injuring the opposing teams best player continued last week as Sophomore Adam Hall tried to strip the ball from James Rodgers as he entered the end zone for his second touchdown. Rodgers joins a distinguished list of All-Pac 10 talent including his brother Quiz (2008) and Dennis Dixon (2007). Plus I remember injuring ASU quarterbacks year after year. Can you guys remember any other stars hobbled by the Cats defense?

Realignment

The Pac-10 released its plan for realignment this week. Under the proposal the Pac-12 would be divided into two divisions with the Cats in the Southern Division along with Arizona State, Utah, Colorado, UCLA and USC. The Northern Division would be Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, Cal, Washington and Washington State. At first I thought this realignment would be bad for the Cats but looking at the division the Cats are the fastest rising team in our proposed division (#2 Utah, #3 USC, #4 UCLA, #5 ASU, #6 Colorado). I think our chances are even better in basketball (#2 UCLA, #3 ASU, #4 USC, #5 Utah, #6 Colorado). If only for a little while the Cats could be competing in conference championships for the next few years. I am however concerned about the competition in Texas recruiting from Utah and Colorado. Perhaps if we are not in the Rose Bowl next year we will be in the near future.

Homecoming

I'm headed to Tucson next week for Homecoming for the first time in years. I'm pumped. Especially since I think the Huskies are taking down the Beavers today. Who is coming with me?
