End of the Leinart Era?

The recent trade rumors involving Matt Leinart have me scratching my head. I can't believe that our past top ten pick, our McFarland action figure, our Heisman trophy winner is going to be traded before he ever plays a full season for the Cards. I can't believe that the most noteworthy thing he did as a Cardinal is appear in this infamous picture. Tyler has been telling me not to worry, to trust in Whisenhunt, but Leinart is completing 85% of his passes for a 101 QB rating. He has no interceptions. AND WE HAVEN'T SEEN HIM FAIL YET.

I hate the idea that he will be gone before we even have a chance to see if he was a gamer. Nick Foles was described in similar terms to Leinart all throughout last off-season. He was called a bad practice player. He was described as having "bad body language." The coaching staff was unsure how he would lead a team. Given the opportunity Foles proved to be better than four year starter Willie Tuitama.

I could understand sitting him if we had a replacement the caliber of Kurt Warner but won't we still be looking for a quarterback week 6 when Derek Anderson throws his 20th interception. Are we going to trade Leinart for another quarterback? Who could we get in return? What could possibly make it worth the stress of not having a starting quarterback?

I realize that in the NFC West every team has a chance and any uncertainty is remedied by easy opponents. But as it is, the Cards look like they are headed for a 6-10 season.
